ABOUT
Niels de Jong is a Netherlands-born, Amsterdam-based multidisciplinary artist who seems to have mistaken the real world for one big sketchbook—and frankly, we’re better off for it. With a background in graphic design, 3D modeling, and woodworking (because two dimensions were clearly not enough), he earned his bachelor’s degree in Urban Design (Urban Interior Architecture) from HKU in Utrecht. A self-declared fan of taking the scenic route in life, de Jong prefers detours over deadlines and zigzags over straight lines—both in travel and in art.
Since 2012, he has been exhibiting internationally, offering viewers a peek into the vibrant universes inside his head. His paintings are filled with layered shapes and “curious characters” that look like they wandered out of an abstract comic book and into an architectural blueprint. Part puzzle, part playground, his work invites you on a visual adventure—sometimes whimsical, sometimes thoughtful, always a little unexpected. It’s art with a wink, built to make you wonder and smile.
